Stories & Art Offers Activities for Children, Parents

The 9/11 Memorial Museum is launching Stories & Art, a new program for children ages four through 10 and their parents or guardians.

The next Stories & Art sessions will take place on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Participants can listen to a story read by a special guest and then partake in a hands-on activity, such as sculpting or other art projects, led by 9/11 Museum education staff.

The special guest on Oct. 18 was Frank Shane, the founder and executive director of K-9 Disaster Relief, accompanied by his comfort canine, Chance. He read "The Man Who Walked Between the Towers" by Mordicai Gerstein.

Shane will return on Oct. 25 to read "Three World Trade Center Was Our Home" by Isabelle Tadmoury Florijn. Participants will also create dog or cat sculptures using Model Magic.

The program is free to museum visitors, but reservations are required. You can reserve your tickets here. It takes place in Classroom C of the Education Center of the museum. Space is limited.
