Letter from 9/11 Memorial President Joe Daniels on the upcoming 5K Run/Walk and Family Day
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Boston, the families of those whose loved ones were killed, those who were injured, and everyone affected by yesterday's horrific attack.
While there are still many questions about who caused these attacks and why, we are reminded of the importance of standing united in response to threats of terror.
The 9/11 Memorial is a constant reminder not only of what we have endured as a result of terrorism, but also of our ability to come together with limitless compassion. In the wake of the Boston attacks, this spirit of unity is more important than ever.
In our daily operations of the Memorial, we continue to work closely with the New York City Police Department and the Port Authority Police Department as safety and security remain our highest priorities.
Our first-ever 9/11 Memorial 5K Run/Walk and Family Day are proceeding as planned on Sunday, April 21. As we come together for this weekend's events, we will honor those killed in the Boston attacks, pray for the families of the victims, stand in solidarity with the injured, and show that we are still united."
