Every morning, the 9/11 Memorial & Museum recognizes the birthdays of the men, women and children whose names are inscribed on the 9/11 Memorial by placing a single white rose at each person’s name on their birthday.
The roses stand as a moving reminder of the very personal loss of human life on September 11, 2001, and February 26, 1993, while providing a special way to invite visitors from around the world to join us in honoring your loved ones. This simple and powerful remembrance began in 2013 after a volunteer suggested this tribute. You can learn more about the program here.
We highlight birthday roses on our social media channels as frequently as possible, but to ensure the process is fair we do not take requests. If you are the family member of a victim and would like to receive a photo of your loved one’s rose, please submit your request through this online form. Photos are typically sent within 3–5 business days.
