9/11 Memorial Guide Nominated for 'Webby Award'

The 9/11 Memorial Guide, which was developed by Local Projects and allows users to explore the Memorial's names arrangement, has been nominated for best online guide in the 16th Annual Webby Awards. Hailed as the "Internet's highest honor" by The New York Times, the Webby Award, presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, or IADAS, is the leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet.

IADAS, which nominates and selects award winners, is comprised of web industry experts, including media mogul Arianna Huffington, Skype CEO Tony Bates, SHFT.com co-founder Adrian Grenier, Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom, mobile-phone inventor Martin Cooper, and Mikael Hed, CEO of Rovio, creators of the Webby Award-winning game app Angry Birds.

"Nominees like Local Projects and the National September 11 Memorial & Museum are setting the standard for innovation and creativity on the Internet," said David-Michel Davies, Executive Director of The Webby Awards. "It is an incredible achievement to be selected among the best from the nearly 10,000 entries we received this year."

As a nominee, the Memorial Guide is also eligible to win a Webby People's Voice Award, which is voted online by fans across the globe. From now until April 26, supporters can cast their votes here.
