Emerson, NJ, secures WTC Relic for Local 9/11 Memorial
The New Jersey borough of Emerson has secured a piece of recovered steel from the World Trade Center site for building a local 9/11 memorial, according to NorthJersey.com. The steel is 15 inches wide, 34 inches long and 10 inches high, local officials said.
A nine-member 9/11 committee has been charged with selecting a design and location for the memorial, according to the report.
Emerson resident Gary Albero was killed in the 9/11 attacks. Albero's name is located on the south pool of the National September 11 Memorial (9/11 Memorial) at the World Trade Center site, which is about 25 miles south of Emerson.
The location of Albero's name and other victims' names can be viewed using the Memorial Guide at names.911memorial.org.
