Blake Beatty, a former senior development officer for the 9/11 Memorial, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Friends of Hudson River Park, where she recently began work as director of development for the park's private fundraising organization.
Before accepting the post of development director on Dec. 12, Beatty was part of a team that helped implement a $350 million fundraising campaign for the National September 11 Memorial & Museum. The 9/11 Memorial is now open to the general public after a dedication ceremony for victims' families on the 10-year anniversary of the 2001 attacks.
"After fundraising for the 9/11 Memorial, I had a very good sense of downtown," Beatty said in a recent interview with The Villager. "I wanted to take that knowledge and enthusiasm and spread it north."
