For all of us at the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, Giving Tuesday reminds us of the universal spirit of giving and sacrifice that radiated from every city in America after the attacks. At the heart of our mission, we are committed to remembering and honoring the 2,983 people killed in the 2001 and 1993 attacks on the World Trade Center. We recognize people who risked their lives to save others as well as those who demonstrated extraordinary compassion in the aftermath.

This year, we began construction on the 9/11 Memorial Glade, opened two special exhibitions that further explore the multi-faceted impact of the 9/11 attacks and reached thousands of students globally through the Anniversary in the Schools webinar and year-round educational programming. None of this would be possible without our generous visitors and supporters.

As a nonprofit, we do not receive any ongoing city, state or federal funding, unlike many other cultural institutions in New York City and throughout the country. We would not be able to operate and provide a safe, meaningful experience for millions of people a year without support from our visitors and donors.
