The Lens: Capturing Life and Events at the 9/11 Memorial and Museum is a photography series devoted to documenting moments big and small that unfold at the 9/11 Memorial and Museum.
The View: Brooklyn resident Cheryl Stewart created this sign tracking the number of days that Osama bin Laden remained at large after 9/11 and placed it in her front yard. The count ended five years ago when news broke late on Sunday, May 1, 2011, that a special team of US Navy SEALs finally located and killed bin Laden, in Abbottabad, Pakistan. The sign’s final post that morning read, “9 years 232 days since 9-11-01: Where is Osama bin Laden?” A passerby scrawled “dead” on a piece of torn yellow notebook paper that was taped to the sign sometime after midnight. This sign is now on view at the 9/11 Memorial Museum.

9/11 Museum Program Looks Back on Osama bin Laden 1998 Interview
The five-year anniversary of the successful completion of Operation Neptune Spear, the mission that resulted in Osama bin Laden's death on May 1, 2011, was marked by an evening program last night at the 9/11 Memorial Museum.
