Publications List Memorial as ‘Must-See’ Destination

News and travel outlets recently named the 9/11 Memorial and Museum as a “must-see” U.S. destination.

On March 20, 2015, the Star-Telegram, a Fort Worth, Texas newspaper, published an article “9/11 Memorial Museum Should Be Priority Destination in NYC” written by former Arlington, Texas Mayor Richard Greene, who also served as an appointee of President George W. Bush as regional administrator for the Environmental Protection Agency. Greene details his experience visiting the Memorial and Museum with his wife and 12-year-old granddaughter, concluding, “My suggestion to anyone who tells me they are headed to New York will be to tell them to put the museum at the top of the list of things to do.”

“It didn’t take long to realize that the time we had allowed to visit the memorial was woefully inadequate,” Greene writes. “We had thought an hour or so might be about right. Instead, we spent about four hours and should have planned on being there the entire day.”

In addition, Leisure Group Travel, a group travel publication and website, listed the 9/11 Memorial as the first site to visit in its “5 Must-See New York City Sites in 48 Hours.” WhereTraveler, a travel publication company, cited the Memorial as one of New York City's top 10 museums.

Travelhoppers, a travel website and guide, also named the Memorial among the top 10 venues “that make New York New York.”
