As the 16th anniversary of the September 11th attacks approaches, many educators grapple with the best way to engage students around this sensitive event. The 9/11 Memorial & Museum offers a host of diverse educational and classroom activities for teachers, families and children which are designed to challenge students to think critically about a wide range of topics related to 9/11. Registration for fall 2017 student programs is now open, and reservations can be made using the school booking request form.

The inquiry-based school programs are designed to challenge students to think critically about 9/11 and related historical events. All programs align with the Common Core Standards, require one chaperone per 10 students and are presented in English.

Visit the 9/11 Memorial Museum’s Plan Your School Visit page for tips on how to prepare for a school program, including FAQs and lesson plans.

Teachers can also register for the 9/11 Memorial Museum’s free Anniversary in the Schools webinar, which will be livestreamed on Sept. 11, 2017, continuously throughout the day.
