Share Your Story of Resilience: OUR CITY. OUR STORY.

Rosie Perez shares her experience at the 9/11 Memorial Museum.

For those who call New York City and the surrounding areas home, we remember how the clear blue sky that Tuesday morning quickly turned gray, the sirens echoing through the streets and the feeling of sadness and uncertainty that filled our collective hearts.

In the days following 9/11, we lifted each other up with compassion. Memorials for the ones we loved appeared throughout the city from Union Square to Central Park.

With heaviness in our hearts we vowed to never forget and we haven’t. Our skyline may have changed but the love we have for our city remained unbroken. A scar was left on our city but it didn’t stop us.

We’ve grown stronger together with the city that we are proud to call our home. Celebrating our strength, OUR CITY. OUR STORY. is a collection of stories of resilience and hope surrounding New York City. With the 9/11 Memorial & Museum as the backdrop, we examine the place that 9/11 has taken in the greater context of our lives. Through these stories we see how New Yorkers, and the city itself, responded, coped and persevered.

"For many of us, those memories will never fade," Rosie Perez said. "We carry them inside of us.”
