Spotlight Shines on The Alliance for Downtown New York (Update)

The National September 11 Memorial & Museum has many reasons to recognize the Alliance for Downtown New York, or ADNY, as the April 2011 Spotlight Business. The ADNY recently joined Signs of Support and made a contribution on behalf of its membership base, which consists of businesses, retailers, and restaurants located throughout lower Manhattan.

The 9/11 attacks devastated downtown. Since then, the ADNY has shown an unwavering commitment to rebuilding at the World Trade Center site and creating a vibrant lower Manhattan community.

“The Downtown Alliance is working hard to support local businesses as lower Manhattan prepares to host millions of visitors to the national 9/11 Memorial,” said Elizabeth H. Berger, President of the Downtown Alliance. “The Signs of Support program offers retail businesses an opportunity to show their support to the public by displaying these special decals on their front doors or windows. Our businesses have proven that they are committed to staying in lower Manhattan and ensuring its success."

By spearheading ambitious initiatives to stimulate the economy and enhance the cultural atmosphere, lower Manhattan has become more attractive to businesses, tourists and residents. Lower Manhattan has recovered, and is now a tremendously vibrant place to live, work and visit. Today, ADNY is a great source for information on where to eat, what to do and how to get around downtown. We thank ADNY for being a strong partner in the effort to make sure lower Manhattan is ready to welcome and host the millions of people expected to visit the 9/11 Memorial each year.
