Probationary firefighters Matthew Asaro and Brendan Stackpole laid a wreath at the South Pool of the 9/11 Memorial on Wednesday, where the names of the 343 members of the FDNY who were killed in the line of duty on 9/11 are inscribed.Read more
Jonathan Ielpi, FDNY Squad 288 (Gift of Ielpi Family), and white birthday rose at 9/11 Memorial.
Today, 9/11 Memorial staff placed a white rose in the name of Jonathan Lee Ielpi on the bronze parapets of the south pool in honor of his birthday. Lee Ielpi spent months searching through the debris at Ground Zero. In December 2001, his son’s remains were found and he carried Jonathan out of the debris pile.Read more

When the south tower toppled and fell onto his command post, William M. Feehan perished. At age 71 he was the oldest first responder killed on 9/11. The FDNY veteran was also a living legend, having held every rank within the department from his 1959 appointment as a probationary firefighter through his promotion to firefighter (Division 3, Ladder 3), lieutenant, chief of department, deputy fire commissioner and first deputy fire commissioner.Read more
