This year at the 9/11 Memorial Museum marked five years since the dedication of the memorial and two years since the museum opened.
As the year draws to a close, we look back and count the many ways that the memorial and museum brought meaning to our visitors:
We honored the 15-year anniversary of the attacks at a ceremony held on the 9/11 Memorial and welcomed family members from across the country. In addition, over 30,700 students were reached with our Anniversary in the Schools program and webinar that educated students from across the country.
The first temporary exhibition, ‘Rendering the Unthinkable’ which explores artist’s responses to 9/11, opened in the museum. The ‘Ground Zero Flag’ also returned home and is now on view in the museum.
The Our City. Our Story. podcast series was launched, featuring the stories of New Yorkers including Robert DeNiro and Katie Couric. Reaching out to members of the community, over 1,800 veterans and their families visited the museum at no charge during Salute to Service.
