Members of the University of Pittsburgh men’s basketball team were led on a tour by 9/11 Memorial staff member Kate Kearney.

On the eve of the Big East Tournament at Madison Square Garden, teams from two schools paid tribute at the 9/11 Memorial.

On Monday the Notre Dame men’s basketball team visited the memorial. The Fighting Irish blog In the Paint chronicled the visit.

“I was in class, in the second grade and the teacher ran out of the room crying after the phone rang. They did a great job with this site, this memorial.” Notre Dame senior Jack Cooley said.

Today the members of the University of Pittsburgh men’s basketball team paid respects at the memorial. Four student athletes on the team are originally from the New York City metro area.
