As part of the global Make Music Day event, the 9/11 Memorial will host a special music program on Wednesday, June 21, from 5 to 8 p.m.
The outdoor event will feature staggered performances of Johann Sebastian Bach's "Well-Tempered Clavier," known by musicians as "the WTC," on four grand pianos placed at the four corners of the Memorial Plaza.
According to Make Music New York, the three continuous hours of music will be played by a rotating cast of dozens of pianists of all skill levels.
Make Music Day takes place annually in more than 50 U.S. cities and 120 countries. The unique event coincides with the summer solstice each year and encourages all people to experience the pleasure of making music.
This year, Make Music New York will include more than 1,200 free concerts throughout the five boroughs of New York City. For more information please visit www.makemusicny.org.
