In case you missed it, five board members have been selected for the Performing Arts Center as reported by several media outlets including Downtown Express.

The New York Observer featured a rendering of the proposed center in its online report, confirming the appointment that helped secure $100 million in LMDC funding for the project.

Artists using the 48th floor of 7 World Trade Center as studio space are looking for another spot now that the Larry Silverstein skyscraper has reached full capacity with the long-term lease of a global investment firm, reports Aline Reynolds of the Downtown Express.

Half a dozen artists use the space at no charge. Many of the artists have documented the building of the 9/11 Memorial.

For years, Silverstein allowed artists to paint, draw and photograph on the floor for free as part of a tradition dating back to the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council’s artists-in-residence program once housed in the Twin Towers, the report says.

Silverstein said in the report that he was thrilled he was able to provide the space for the artists and his organization is hoping to help them find another studio.

The artists, who were appreciative to Silverstein for allowing them to use the space, will continue to use the floor until January.

Developer Larry Silverstein recently told a real estate crowd that reconstruction of the World Trade Center site is a beacon of hope and the future of lower Manhattan is bright.

Despite the slumped economy, he recalled making a prudent decision to rebuild 7 World Trade Center after the 9/11 attacks. At first, he said, "we were the only tenant and it was lonely," according to The Real Deal. Now, he pointed out, it is fully leased.
