On Sunday, April 27, nearly 4,000 participants joined the second annual 9/11 Memorial 5K Run/Walk presented by RXR Realty to raise awareness about the National September 11 Memorial & Museum and encourage volunteerism in memory of 9/11.

The morning opened at Pier 26 with remarks from 9/11 Memorial President Joe Daniels and RXR Realty CEO Scott Rechler. New York Knicks great John Starks and former New York Liberty center Kym Hampton also addressed the crowd to kick off the fun-run. The entire Liberty team, including all-star Essence Carson, led the race, which ended at the 9/11 Memorial.

The 5K Run/Walk concluded with Family Day, a free community event along Greenwich Street outside of the 9/11 Memorial. Guest enjoyed fun activities for all ages and live entertainment. They also learned of ways to remember 9/11 through participation in volunteer opportunities. Visit 911memorial.org to learn about volunteer and docent opportunities at the 9/11 Memorial and Museum.
