Following the 9/11 terrorist attacks, people throughout the United States and all over the world memorialized the victims and honored the sacrifices of first responders by displaying tribute items and personal memorializations. From these efforts emerged a renewed spirit of solidarity and global connection. The 9/11 Memorial welcomes visitors bringing tribute items to the Memorial.
The Memorial encourages visitors to place tribute items on the ground in front of the Memorial pools or on the bronze Memorial Names Parapets themselves.
All tribute items will be subject to security screening and size limitations. No tribute items larger than 8”x17”x19” will be permitted onto the Memorial. Perishable items will be collected daily and discarded. Non-perishable items will be collected, reviewed, and kept at the discretion of the Memorial Museum curatorial staff.
Please do not throw or place anything in the Memorial pools.
