Joe McNally

Longtime LIFE photographer and critically acclaimed photojournalist Joe McNally captured the impact of September 11, 2001 through a super-sized, one-of-a-kind Polaroid camera. Created in a studio only blocks from Ground Zero, the eight feet tall and twelve feet long camera captured a cross section of first responders, survivors and relatives of victims of the 9/11 attacks. Joe describes the experience of photographing these individuals, and the powerful ways the experience continues to affect him today.
