Read the Wall Street Journal review of Broadcastr, a new social-media platform for location-based audio. Broadcastr lets people create and share recordings on an interactive map, almost like a museum tour of the world.

According to the review, “listeners can search for stories by location or category, or may opt to 'follow' a person who they consider to be a good storyteller, sorting stories by that person into a special tab.”

The 9/11 Memorial partnered with Broadcastr to provide stories from Sept. 11. Selections from the 9/11 Memorial Museum’s permanent archive of oral history and remembrances will be regularly updated and available on the site’s growing network.  Visitors can also use the “geoplay” feature to take a guided walk around the World Trade Center site, while the voices of first responders, family members and witnesses stream into their headphones based on their physical location.
