Allison Gilbert is a former reporter and the author of "Parentless Parents:  How the Loss of Our Mothers and Fathers Impacts the Way We Raise Our Children." She will speak about the book at 7 p.m. tomorrow at the Jewish Community Center in Manhattan. (RSVP here).

In the book, Gilbert examines the challenges parents encounter when raising their own children and offers insight into how mothers and fathers can cope without the support and guidance of those who raised them.

A core mission at the National September 11 Memorial & Museum is to remember the thousands of innocent men, women, and children murdered by terrorists in the attacks of Feb. 26, 1993 and Sept. 11, 2001.  Many of these victims were parents, whose family members were suddenly faced with the challenge of filling the void left when their pillars of support were suddenly taken away.

Gilbert is also one of the co-editors of "Covering Catastrophe: Broadcast Journalists Report September 11."  See her at the 9/11 Memorial Preview Site on June 22 as a featured speaker in our  9/11, Today, and Tomorrow series. (RSVP here)
