The Thread Project: One World, One Cloth

Near the bottom of the third panel, a wooden shuttle, which wove both the first and 49th panels, lodges between the warp threads; the panel also includes threads from several 9/11 families. The fourth panel, textured with mohair native to Lesotho, was woven by African women keeping their villages afloat through weaving, after area diamond mines closed. The Lesotho panel, presented to the Ambassador of Lesotho, later hung at the United Nations building in New York City in 2006.
