Chief of Staff

Benjamin Milakofsky is the chief of staff at the 9/11 Memorial & Museum. He previously worked at the U.S. Department of the Interior, where he was the deputy chief of staff to the secretary and the chief of staff to the deputy secretary.

After working for the presidential transition team, Milakofsky spent nearly three years working in the White House Office of Cabinet Affairs. In November 2011, he became the White House liaison at the U.S. Department of the Interior.

Milakofsky was the Department of the Interior's ex-officio representative to the United States Holocaust Memorial Council (board of trustees).

Milakofsky served a three-year term on the Board of the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington and was the vice president for young leadership on the executive committee in 2016. He was also co-chair of young leadership, where he served on numerous task forces and committees.

He is currently in the executive MBA program at Columbia Business School, with an anticipated graduation date of May 2020, and has a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Maryland, College Park.

In his spare time, Milakofsky has run two marathons, and he climbed Mount Rainier in July 2017.
