Chief Advancement Officer & Deputy Director for Institutional Advancement

Josh Cherwin currently serves as chief advancement officer and deputy director for institutional advancement at the 9/11 Memorial & Museum and is responsible for managing the organization’s private fundraising initiatives and events, as well as the Museum’s membership programs.

Prior to this, he served as executive director of the New York State Democratic Senate Campaign Committee, overseeing statewide fundraising, political, and campaign strategy on behalf of the New York State Senate Democratic Conference.

From 2000 to 2008, Cherwin served in various roles for former U.S. Vice President Al Gore, most recently as special advisor. He is a graduate of the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. Cherwin currently resides in Manhattan with his wife, Gina, and two daughters.
