On Saturday, March 9, the 9/11 Memorial & Museum began a new partnership with the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) under the leadership of Director Christopher Wray. Director Wray decided to mandate that all new FBI trainees visit the Memorial and Museum as part of their basic field training course. Only two other sites welcome trainees as part of their mandatory training: The Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, both in Washington D.C.

To begin the inaugural program, Director Wray addressed the newest class of FBI agent and intelligence analyst trainees. He described the reasons he chose to incorporate this visit into training, the two 9/11 victims with ties to the FBI, the lessons of the day and the importance of ongoing vigilance in the 21st century. They were the first class of several cohorts to visit the site throughout the year.
