An annual “pipes” concert that will feature a moment of remembrance for the 10-year anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks is planned this month in Manhattan, event organizers say.

The Pipes of Christmas will open its 13th season on Dec. 16 in Summit, N.J., where the concert originally began. It will be in New York on Dec. 17 and Dec. 18 at the Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church at 921 Madison Ave. at 73rd St. The holiday concert is produced by the Clan Currie Society.

This year, the producers added a new selection entitled “Lament for the Lost.”  The organizers said the selection is powerful, and playing it on bagpipes is especially poignant because that was the instrument “played at so many post 9/11 funerals for fire, police and rescue workers.”
