John Seelie, a Pearl Harbor survivor who visited the 9/11 Memorial three months ago, has died at 94. A member of the 25th Infantry Division, Seelie was stationed in Honolulu and had just reported for guard duty on Dec. 7, 1941, when Japanese warplanes began bombing Pearl Harbor.

Seelie had visited the 9/11 Memorial in May 2017 to commemorate the attacks. He was greeted at the Memorial by an honor guard that included members of the Port Authority Police Department, the New York City Police Department, the U.S. Coast Guard and first responders.

Seelie had said it was "amazing" to see the 9/11 Memorial with his own eyes and that it was "such an honor to be recognized this way."
