19 Years Later: Remembering the 1993 Bombing Attack on WTC
The National September 11 Memorial & Museum is commemorating the 19th anniversary of the Feb. 26, 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center by sharing stories and artifacts connected to that tragic day. John Picone, a former Port Authority of New York and New Jersey employee, donated this so-called move back jacket to the collection of the 9/11 Memorial Museum. Picone wore the jacket in the aftermath of the 1993 bombing, the first terrorist attack on the World Trade Center. Six people were killed and thousands were injured.
The jackets were given to Port Authority staff like Picone who assisted in cleanup operations after the attack. Learn more about artifacts in the museum's collection and see how you can contribute by clicking here.
