A series of paintings titled “World Trade Center as a Cloud” by artist Christopher Saucedo hang on a white wall at the 9/11 Memorial Museum. The three paintings cloud-like images of World Trade Center buildings floating in a blue sky.

The Lens: Capturing Life and Events at the 9/11 Memorial and Museum is a photography series devoted to documenting moments big and small that unfold at the 9/11 Memorial and Museum.

The View: Gregory Thomas Saucedo, a firefighter with FDNY Ladder Company 5, was last seen on September 11, 2001 responding to the North Tower of the World Trade Center. A few days after the attacks, his brother Christopher Saucedo drove to New York City from his home in New Orleans, determined to find his brother in the wreckage. Christopher, a professional artist, later turned to artwork to process the events and loss of his brother. He created a series of paintings titled “World Trade Center as a Cloud.” Three of Saucedo’s works are on display at the 9/11 Memorial Museum in the “Rendering the Unthinkable: Artist Respond to 9/11” special exhibition.
