Stanley Smagala Jr. lived in Holbrook, NY with his wife, Dena. They were expecting their first child. The youngest of seven, Stanley spoke of wanting a big family. He enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews or playing ping-pong, golf, and softball when not on duty at FDNY Engine Company 226.

On September 11, Firefighter Smagala responded to the towers. Today we honor his 52nd birthday by placing a white rose at his name on the 9/11 Memorial.
