White flowers at names on the Memorial

22nd Anniversary Commemoration

The heart of the mission of the 9/11 Memorial & Museum remains the annual commemoration ceremony. Family members of 9/11 victims will once again gather on the Memorial plaza to read aloud the names of those killed in the 9/11 attacks and in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.

The National September 11 Memorial & Museum lead the nation, and the world, in marking the anniversary of the day that changed our lives forever.

The 22nd anniversary commemoration ceremony took place on the Memorial plaza and focused on an in-person reading of the names by family members. Throughout the ceremony, we observed six moments of silence, acknowledging when each of the World Trade Center towers was struck and fell and the times of the attack on the Pentagon and the crash of Flight 93.

Our program commenced at 8:30 a.m., and the first moment of silence was observed at 8:46 a.m. Families were able to access the Memorial plaza beginning at 7:30 a.m., and the commemoration concluded at approximately 12:30 p.m. The Museum was open exclusively to 9/11 family members throughout the day.

Museum admission is always free for family members. Learn more here
