In this photograph, two participants in a public program sit on a blue-lit auditorium stage with legs crossed in suits and ties. One man in the center of the stage is speaking and gesturing toward the moderator, who sits holding a clipboard in his lap. On the other side of the man speaking sits the other public program participant, who sits with an expression of patient listening. Silhouetted in the foreground of the photograph are the heads of the audience members.

After the election of a new president, Congress appoints a bipartisan commission to examine the nation’s defense strategy and military readiness. The most recent review found that the security of the United States is at risk in profound ways, for reasons both external and internal. National Defense Strategy Commission Co-chairs Admiral (Ret.) Gary Roughead and Ambassador Eric Edelman will join us to discuss the panel’s findings, concerns, and recommendations.
