Russia’s interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election and its increasingly assertive foreign policy in Syria and Afghanistan directly challenge American influence. Stephen Sestanovich—Columbia University professor, senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, and former State Department ambassador at large—unpacks Russia’s impact on America’s post-9/11 foreign policy.
