This artwork presents the “9” panel of “9.11 Heroes of Our Memory,” a two-part commemorative poster and archival project.

The names of first responders who lost their lives during the September 11 attacks are arranged to form the number “9” over an archival image of rescue workers at Ground Zero. From a distance, the names appear as a symbolic number associated with 9/11. Viewed up close, each name emerges as an individual record of a life, a sacrifice, and a personal history.

The complete project honors 412 fallen first responders and 21 Korean victims. This “9” panel is presented here as the representative image, while its companion “11” panel completes the numerical symbol of 9/11 and includes the remaining names within the project.

Together, the two panels transform historical statistics into individual names. The work was created to express gratitude and respect for the first responders, commemorate the Korean victims, and preserve their memory for future generations.
