It is My Honor, My Duty and My Passion to dedicate my life and my business to honor the courageous first responders who risk and sacrifice their lives for their fellow man.
Like every other part of the city, New York's dance community was profoundly affected by the tragic events of September 11. In the one year since the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center, there has been time for reflection and healing.

My name is Racquel Cruz, Founder of the site Artist’s Square: www.artists-square.com . I moved 2 weeks to New York before this tragedy and shared the mourning of this great big city!!
The impact of the 9/11 tragedy inspired me to create a series of ongoing works about this terrible event in history. I find the memory of it remains fresh and I have continued to add to this series.
This song was inspired by a photograph of an exhausted, dust covered firefighter asleep in a pew in St. Paul's Chapel. I saw it shortly after 9/11 and again on another visit last year, where I wrote the song sitting on St. Paul's steps.
My current body of work expresses the theme of the desire to be anonymous in the city yet belonging to the city. The tapestry of its structure, functionality and organization is a comforting and familiar space to blend into.
