On the morning of 9/11 I was recording in a studio session in Central London. The session did not go well and I decided to end off early. It's so strange to say it but there was actually just a strange air of something being very wrong.
In September of 2001, after teaching an early class at M.S. 216, Marc walked the hall to the teachers’ lounge to relax before the next art class would come storming in.
Choreographed in the fall of 2011, in the wake of the events of 9/11/2001, "Standing Tall" is dedicated in memory of those who perished that day and the heroes who sacrificed their lives to save them.
Embodied Light: 9-11 in 2011
Installation by Tobi Kahn
How can a work of art speak in the wake of primeval chaos? What is the responsibility of the artist, whose vocabulary is paint and bronze, wood and light, to those who are gone?
My installation, PRECAMBRIAN WALTZ, was initially commissioned by the Port Authority of NY & NJ in 1985 as a work of public art for the PA Technical Center in Jersey City, long before the unforeseen terrorist attacks on 9/11.
