In “After the 11th,” I’ve identified the psychological, emotional and intellectual states I’ve gone through since September 11, 2001 and have created a piece of art corresponding to each one.
On September 11th 2001, just before the tragic events that would unfold that morning, I was in Lower Manhattan. As I was walking south and thinking about my projects, I suddenly felt an urgent need to pray for many people who were in pain.

Artist and philanthropist Richard Sean Manning is a prolific artist who works in a number of mediums, including ink, oil and acrylic, exotic and rare wood, metal and glass.
Collage developed from newspaper clipping that emotionally related to my experience. In a way this project helped me process what I had seen and what I heard.
This is my personal memorial to September 11, 2001. For me, it provides a lasting memory of the human loss, sacrifice and heroism that made 9/11 such global inspiration.
