Virginia S. Bauer is the chief executive officer of GTBM Inc. in East Rutherford, N.J., which provides software security technology for law enforcement and corporate facilities.
Ms. Bauer was appointed by Governor Jon Corzine in April 2007 to serve on the Board of Commissioners for the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey. She served to July 2012.
Ms. Bauer served from 2005–2008 as vice chairperson of the Fort Monmouth Economic Redevelopment Authority. She was the state’s lead representative in the development of a specific plan to achieve revitalization of this 1,600-acre military facility.
Ms. Bauer served as commerce secretary for the state of New Jersey. She was appointed in July 2004 and served to July 2007.
In August 2003, Ms. Bauer was appointed by former Governor Jim McGreevey as director of the New Jersey Lottery.
Ms. Bauer, a widow of a New Jersey victim of the September 11, 2001 attack on the World Trade Center, is a mother of three from Red Bank, N.J.. She became a key activist on behalf of the families of the 9/11 victims after her husband was killed at the World Trade Center. In her role as advocate for the 9/11 victims, Ms. Bauer worked closely with congressional leaders and the White House toward the successful enactment of 9/11 victim legislation in 2002.
Ms. Bauer is a former financial planning and account management executive with Merrill Lynch.
Virginia Bauer is a director on the National September 11 Memorial & Museum Board.
She is a member Economic Club of New York. She is a trustee of Monmouth University and serves on the board of Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, N.J.
