A small cell of terrorists, with links to a local radical mosque and broader Islamist terror networks, detonated approximately 1,200 pounds of explosives on February 26, 1993, at 12:18 p.m. Six people were killed and more than 1,000 were injured.
In recognition of the 26th anniversary of that first attack on the World Trade Center, on Tuesday, February 26, 2019, around 12:15 p.m., we will gather together on the Memorial plaza with 1993 survivors, families, first responders and the downtown community to say aloud the names of those killed that day: John DiGiovanni, Robert Kirkpatrick, Stephen A. Knapp, William Macko, Wilfredo Mercado and Monica Rodriguez Smith and her unborn child.
