The photographs were taken in June 2001 on a dank, dreary day from Ellis Island. My wife and myself were visiting the Island to research my Mother's history about her arriving as an immigrant in 1914 at the age of nine. I am sure her trepidation about the "new world" is reflected in the dreariness of the photos.
