Like most, I watched in horror as the terrorist attacks against the United States unfolded on Tuesday, September 11th, 2001. A native New Yorker now living in Dallas, I wanted to help. "I felt such a profound loss regarding the day's events. The only way I could communicate what I was felling was through art".
My intent from the start was to create a national symbol to convey a range of emotions such as sorrow, hope and unity felt by all Americans as a result of this national tragedy. "This symbol was created for America and no one should profit from it. If I had resources and time, I would use it to help generate philanthropy for the victims, their families, and the construction costs to build a national memorial."
Soon after I created the image, he forwarded it to many of his colleagues
and friends via the Internet who concurred that his tribute entitled
"Remember" was a fitting, timeless tribute to a day many would rather forget.
With assistance from the Arlington Co. Police Department in Virginia and other friends nationwide, it has helped raise over $2.5 million for various 9/11 related charities. It currently is offered on license plates in 5 US states.
