We all became New Yorkers
When terror crossed our borders
New Yorkers became our soldiers
And we cried as hero's died
Saving innocent lives
Families broken and scarred forever
On that morning in September
And all we could do
Was pray for you
We are the farmers of the Dakotas
The teachers of Tennessee
We work the California vineyards
And the docks of New Orleans
We're all from different places,
But we stand up for our brothers
And when those towers crumbled to the ground,
We all became New Yorkers
We saw your tears, for all your loved ones lost
But on that day our wounded nation
Found in you the inspiration
To stand together
Stronger than ever
We won't ever forget that day
And we won't ever forget the brave
You were the fireman from Manhattan
The father of two from Queens
You worked as EMT's and officers
For the port authority
And though we never met you
You'll always be our brothers
Cause when the towers crumbled to the ground
We all became New Yorkers
We all became New Yorkers
