Roberta Schlechter resides in Portland, Oregon. She is a retired Christian Educator with a degree in Communications. On 9/11, a relative by marriage was working in One Financial Center. Roberta recalls a lengthy conversation with his mother-in-law, of whom she was very fond. He came home safely. The poem, "GROUND ZERO: Perspectives from Afar", was composed in October, 2001.
