From my essay
"A Gathered Presence. The Photograph as Icon: Meditations on the 'Missing' Posters"
In-house, first printing March 11, 2002
Using a photographic narrative to serve as a meditation on the terrible consequences of [the events of 9/11], I was able to place my own reflections into context.
Crystallizing my thoughts and feelings, attempting to grasp some level of “meaning” surrounding that tragedy; that one day in which I sensed that the universal paradigm of what “safe” meant changed forever.
For me the events of 9/11 are continue to be a whisper in my thoughts. A whisper because we now know so much more of the “how” and “when” but most importantly the “who” of September 11, 2001.
