Artist's Statement
I wrote this poem on 911 as an instinctive reaction to the travesty we witnessed at the time, I stumbled across it again, in my notebook in 2024 . Rereading it, brought to the fore once more the depth of shock we experienced on that day, when as mere spectators, we stood transfixed by the relentless reel of unintelligible images broadcast the world over. I wanted to share it.
The Poem:
White
And hence emerge the living
Lumbering
Stunned
Their eyes aghast
Their minds incoherent of the incomprehension
Ghosts
Covered in the white dust of death
Doomed
To bear death in life
All colour expunged by silence
After the thunder
And yet....
