    Statement of Work

This piece was inspired by the wife of a fire captain who climbed Tower 1 on September 11. She moved to North Carolina in 2005 and I taught her piano for several months. During that time she shared stories of her husband and that day. He passed not long after their move after a brave battle with cancer, brought on by elements he breathed in during his time at ground zero. I am inspired by his incredible courage.

25 years Is a long time, but it feels like this happened just yesterday. The single tear's length symbolizes 25 years and the irrevocable mark it made on this country. This piece is a Kinusaiga piece. A template was drawn and fabric was chosen purposefully and tucked strategically into the board.
