Artist's Statement
Statement of Work
Reflecting back on the twenty five years it's been since this horrible day. Like many, I wasn't there except through the videos and photos shared then and now. My thoughts and prayers are always with those whose lives were lost, and our brave citizens and emergency responders who worked to save everyone they could. My recollection of where I was and what I was doing doing in a small town in Alabama can't begin to compare with what this would have been like firsthand. I tried to capture a little of what I felt that day.

Sam Calhoun is a poet, geoscientist, and nature photographer. He is the author of eight chapbooks, and has been nominated for Pushcart and Best of the Net awards. His poetry and photography can be found in numerous journals and anthologies, including Frogpond, Paddler Press, Dishsoap Quarterly, and GRIT magazine. He is the editor-in-chief for the Tanasi River Review, and lives with his wife in Elkmont, Alabama.
