I spent my childhood in a small town in (former West-) Germany and all my life I´ve set myself two goals: becoming a photographer and living in the USA.

The paintings shown reflect a personal journey using art to understand the emotionally gripping tragedy of 9-11 even though experienced only through a camera lens or tv newscasts.

Central High School is a small Single A public school in rural Southside Virginia. We have caring students that wanted to create some type of memorial for the 10th anniversary of 9-11.

Stuart had a cousin, Cleo, who worked in one of the towers. The story goes that she stopped for coffee that morning and escaped the disaster. It's not clear on what floor she worked.

Stuart is lately (2025) fixed on 9/11 and is watching numerous videos and movies based on the unimaginable disaster. An acrophobe, he cannot fathom the choices the victims faced above the impact zones.

My Welsh Corgi Juno was a licensed therapy dog. For years we had been visiting nursing homes and troubled children, and she seemed to have healing power.

The project began with great excitement and trepidation. This group of students was around the age of three on September 11, 2001. We all knew someone who had died in the attacks.

Painting is part of my life my blood and my passion. I believe strongly that art should not be viewed as a mere hobby for me since my paintings are the food and the air of my existence.

"Lest We Forget"

This is a working proposal for an intended World Fountain & 9-11 Memorial to be completed in 2012.
It will be a public plaza on the front lawn of Fire Station #32 on US Highway 1, in Hobe Sound, Florida.

I would like to present this sculpture to the worlds people. Hope, The Joy of Selflessness is my visionary expression of the combined spiritual energy of all those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

In 2001, I was a senior at West Windsor-Plainsboro Regional High School in Princeton Junction, New Jersey. Since many students at my school had parents or siblings who worked in the city, the September 11th attacks hit close to home.

I made this collage from photos I shot waiting in line at the Viewing Station at Ground Zero in January 2002. Even after four months post 9/11/2001, the site was heart wrenching. This was a tribute to the Firefighters who lost their lives.

Bystander 9/11 really started with a mass email I sent out once I had gotten to safety. The World Trade Center was my subway stop, I had spent the previous day working at One Liberty, literally in the shadow of the towers.

Theodore Largman was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and lived for many years within a short walk of Independence Hall. The legendary building was an inspiration for him and enhanced his patriotic feelings and love of history.

My painting "Freedom", the spirit of America has many symbolic meanings.
The thirteen Van Gogh style stars symbolizes the thirteen original colonies United to form the United States.
