Opening Remark
Hello, my name is Joe Dundore and I have been an instrumental and general music teacher for 7 years now in the Carroll County Maryland Public School System.
“Eyes Upon the Skyline” tells my story as a New Yorker on that dreadful day. I lived in Brooklyn and worked in Midtown Manhattan during that time and this is how I experienced that day and the days following from my own eyes.
"I took a pencil and a piece of paper and I remember that I tried to draw a face and it came out so well that I was shocked at how well it came out. I was in third grade. I must have been around nine or ten – something like that.
I will let the lyrics of my song speak as my "Statement of Work". It was a challenge to incorporate all the layers of emotion, differing perspectives, and areas of focus for such devasting events in our human history.
“9-11 Terror of Hearts”, is a painting that took on a life of its own as I painted. My shock and horror manifested itself through the dark and ominous hues. I couldn’t wrap my brain around the heartlessness happening in my country.
I wanted to re create the World Trade Center tapestry to bring it back so while Using Pencil I drew out the shape from a photo of the original tapestry then I outlined with ultra fine point black sharpie to make it exactly then using

This painting, "Columbus Day Marchers, 2001" was produced from images that I took in October of 2001, of the first Columbus day parade that was held after the events of 911.
